Thoughts, Experiments and Research

Understanding of a scene begins below awareness, fast, and in ways that people share.

Lewin’s Foundation

Equation One keeps Lewin’s structure and makes each variable readable in a scene.

Each driver is a finite, repeatable pathway from what is seen to what is done, and each is read by a term of U = f(En, El, Pb, P | Π).

Thoughts

The table-setting test

The test is therefore a test of agreement between participants, and agreement is what reveals the shared, subconscious basis of understanding.

Any tester can mix, match and change the configuration, and should do so; the result does not depend on the particular settings chosen.

The brain ranks and rates what it observes, and builds narratives from the ranks.

Take The Table Test

Temporal Determinism

By temporal determinism this book means that what is about to happen in a scene, and in the participant who takes it in, is fixed by what has already been read, within the finite range of behaviour, up to a residual.

The thesis concerns a known participant within a residual, not every individual act known in advance by anyone.

The determinism of this thesis is conditional on the participant.

The Skeptics

A position is strengthened by the sources that doubt it.

Under that rule the principle can fail, and a principle that can fail can be tested.
